Operations Manual

📅 Automated Operation

Your SmartFlag Unit automatically raises or lowers the flag based on instructions received from the SmartFlag Cloud. No user action is required to schedule these events.

You will be kept informed of upcoming events by email or text message, depending on your subscription settings.

Tip: Every SmartFlag Unit has a QR code on the label. When scanned, it displays all current, pending, and recently-completed half-staff events for that location.

🛠 Manual Flag Positioning

  1. Unlock the unit using the supplied key.
  2. Hold the halyards firmly with one hand and open the lid with the other.
  3. Remove the halyard (flag rope) from the sprocket wheel.
  4. Manually raise or lower the flag as needed.
  5. Ensure that the flag and the red halyard marker are on the right-hand side of the sprocket.
  6. Re-wrap the halyard around the sprocket, making sure it’s snug.
  7. Be sure the halyard aligns with the slots in the lid as you close and lock it.

⚡ To Pause Automation

Disconnect the power plug before closing the unit. The flag will stay in place until power is restored.

📧 An email alert will be sent when the SmartFlag Unit loses power:

  • Daily for one week
  • Weekly until power is restored
