🛠 Troubleshooting

This section helps you identify and resolve common SmartFlag Unit issues using LED status indicators and basic diagnostic steps.

🔦 Understanding LED Colors

LED ColorMeaning
🔵 Pulsing CyanNormal operation (connected and idle)
🟡 Yellow (blinking)Awaiting configuration
🟢 Fast Green BlinkConnecting to SmartFlag Cloud
⚫ No LightNo power (battery and external power lost)

ℹ️ Not all units include battery backup. Some units will go dark during power outages.

If the LED is not pulsing cyan, the unit may be experiencing one of the following issues:

  • STALL – Flag movement requires too much force (e.g., frozen rope or snag)
  • TIMEOUT – Flag did not reach its destination within two minutes
  • POWER LOSS – External power is disconnected
  • CONNECTIVITY – Lost contact with the SmartFlag Cloud

A support alert may already be in progress. If the issue does not resolve within 15 minutes, follow the steps below.

🧪 Basic Recovery Steps

  1. Check the power source.
Ensure the transformer is plugged into a working outlet. Inspect wiring and the plug connection at the base of the unit.
  2. Look for visible issues with the halyard (rope).
Is the rope tangled, frozen, or pinched inside the lid? Open the lid and inspect the flag and halyard position.
  3. Reboot the unit.
Disconnect and reconnect the power plug inside the SmartFlag Unit. Wait 2–3 minutes for the LED to return to pulsing cyan.
  4. Check for updates or alerts.
Scan the QR code on the outside of the unit to view recent event history.
